BLOG: A poem for Ramadan

By Isabelle*, a cross-cultural worker in the Middle East

Fast and feast in constant rotation
Quiet, empty-street days
Followed by noisy full-stomach nights.
Anticipation, waiting, hunger,
A quest to please God.
God of both feast and fast
Would you meet our friends,
As they hunger and thirst
As they eat and drink,
Would you reveal yourself to them?
In the emptiness and the fullness,
Way, Truth, Life,
Would you satisfy souls?
