APPEAL: Can you support mission workers?

Last year was a strange year for all of us. You may have experienced difficulty and loneliness as we entered into lockdown due to the pandemic. This was no different for the many cross-cultural workers throughout the Arab world. Due to the challenges of COVID-19, workers across our mission family faced:

  • Bereavement
  • Ill-health
  • Stress and exhaustion
  • Disappointment of continued isolation

They have been unsettled and discouraged

Many cross-cultural workers look forward to travelling back to see loved ones. As many of us have had to experience, missing out on occasions like Christmas, weddings and funerals can be a painful reminder of the separation caused by the pandemic.

However, through your support and prayers, our workers are continuing to be encouraged in this time. One of our workers in the Gulf sent this update recently showing how vital ongoing member care is:

Thank you for reaching out and praying for us. We still plan to return to the UK in late April and have a plane ticket booked. COVID-19 cases have tripled here and are as high as they have ever been. They were vaccinating a lot, but not as much as recently, possibly due to supply.

You can encourage workers as they make Christ known

‘When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers.’ Galatians 6:10 (New Century Version)

Since the first lockdown in March 2020, we have made it a priority to provide increased contact with all of our workers, of which there are nearly ninety, to lend a listening ear and timely encouragement.

Your support will enable us to maintain and improve our level of member care as our workers continue to share the gospel among Arab peoples. Through your gift we can be adequately equipped and resourced to play our part in ministering God’s care through:

  • Debriefing and signposting to specialists
  • Gifts and practical expressions of love
  • The recruitment and training of extra staff.

You can give to this work through this button. Thank you for partnering with us in this way.

If you’d like to find out more about the experience of working cross-culturally during the pandemic, you can listen to a podcast about the personal experiences of two workers here.
