EDITORIAL: A shock for Ananias

Have you ever been involved in recruiting someone?

Interviewing candidates can throw up lots of surprises. However much you examine profiles and application forms, you never completely know what to expect until you meet them personally.

When it comes to being surprised by the Lord’s recruitment policy, the medal must go to Ananias. He was told by the risen Jesus to welcome the most unlikely candidate to the family business, and commission him to the most amazing role. He must have been astonished. Yet he obeyed.

‘Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” ‘ Acts 9:17 (NIV)

A reader’s response:

‘Thank you for all the information you send concerning the work…the magazines you send contain amazing stories of Arabs who are born again. So much information is a true blessing for our prayers.’ Pat
