‘The Christian life is a marathon and not a sprint’
My youth leader, Steve, shared this wisdom soon after I was baptised. He continued to invest in my early spiritual formation by leading me and others through key Bible studies. Having several close friends growing in Christ at the same time was hugely motivating. Why? Because being a disciple of Christ is so counter-cultural.
Discipleship is challenging in any context. Cross-cultural workers find that some societies are more openly hostile to believers; the community exerts specific pressures and temptations.
‘Through the experience of discipling Adam, I have learned that discipling a Believer from a Muslim Background [BMB] is often like teaching someone to swim in the ocean in the middle of a fierce storm.’
Don Little, Effective Discipling in Muslim Communities, p128
A reader’s response:
‘ I just wanted to encourage you in that I thought this month’s magazine was particularly good in the layout of the centre pages which suited the subject matter of those two articles excellently well. They also contained good details. Great stuff.’ Ian

Bahrain was once home to thousands of pearl divers! 🤿 When Jesus talked about a pearl of great price, He could have been thinking of one from those waters!
Pray with us that the people of Bahrain would come to realise the immense value of the Kingdom and turn to follow Christ.
