IRAQ: Three ways to pray

Pray

As the conflict in Iraq makes the headlines, the situation should also feature in our prayers. Here are three pointers to help guide your intercessory prayers as individuals and small groups.

For background and more prayer points, we recommend this Iraq video by Prayercast*. Please be aware that there are some images depicting the reality of the conflict which some viewers may find distressing.

1) Remember the innocent

As the fighting in Mosul continues, please bring before God the people of that city, who are either fleeing for their lives, or feel trapped and helpless. Ask for the Father’s will to be done, and for His angels to hover over the region, protecting the innocent.

2) Quick response to practical needs

Aid workers are preparing for a huge humanitarian crisis in Mosul, especially as winter approaches with temperatures near to freezing. Please pray for them as they seek to support people by providing basic necessities.

3) Spiritual breakthrough

There is a remnant of believers in Iraq. Pray for them to courageously stand firm in their faith, despite persecution and terror. Pray too for Christ’s message of repentance and forgiveness to break through hearts hardened by longstanding divisions.
