Hamdi* was a young Muslim man from the Middle East. But when he heard people talking about Christianity, his heartbeat quickened. He trembled especially when they spoke of Jesus the Saviour, and the cross. His feelings were so very different from the fear and obligations of Islam. He was scared, because he knew the price for following Jesus was high, for someone of his background. He feared for his life.
In the end, Hamdi’s desire for fellowship and knowledge won over his fear, and he filled in the contact form on our Arabic ministry website. This was part of his message…
This is my first prayer: Lord Jesus, please join me with other Christians under one cross and one church…
Also, I really want to speak with anyone who is willing to listen to me. Please contact me as soon as possible, and thank you for all you do on this site.
An Arab Christian volunteer – who used to be a Muslim himself – was given the responsibility to follow up Hamdi. He had never met anyone like this, with such hunger to know everything about walking with Christ. The believers were so encouraged and they began to meet regularly to study the Bible. After six months our volunteer reported that Hamdi had now been integrated into a local group of believers. Praise God!
At AWM, our vision is to see Christ’s Church flourish throughout the Arab world through witnessing, discipling, media ministry and church-planting. We long for seekers, like Hamdi, to come into a living faith in Jesus and stimulate church-planting movements. Read our CORE VALUES here.

In this Link Digital article, Pete* and Judy* reflect on where they found support when they faced challenges in their ministry in North Africa.
Equipping mission workers for their ministry is a key role of any mission agency. At AWM-Pioneers, we have developed specialised training to ensure that mission workers are equipped and supported at every stage of their journey. Want to know more?
